Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for Indian Economic Service (I.E.S) / Indian Statistical Service (I.S.S.) Examination Eligibility Criteria Nationality A candidate must be either (a) a Citizen of India, (b) a subject of Nepal, (c) a subject of Bhutan, (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 01st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India or; Eligibility Criteria Age Limits A candidate for admission to this exam must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years Upper Age Limit The upper age-limit prescribed above will be relaxable: (i) Up to a maximum of 5 years if a candidate belong to a SC/ST; (ii) Up to a maximum of 3 years in the case of candidate belonging to OBC who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates; (iii) Up to a maximum of 5 years if a candidate has ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 01st Jan. 1980 to the 31st Dec. 1989; (iv) Up to a maximum of 3 years in the case of Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country (v) Up to a maximum of 5 years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 01st August 2016 (vi) Up to a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and orthopedically disabled persons Educational Qualifications For Indian Economic Service: A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University u/s 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Govt. from time to time Examination Pattern S.No. Name of the Subject Maximum Marks Time Duration 1 General English 100 3 Hours 2 General Studies 100 3 Hours 3 General Economics - I 200 3 Hours 4 General Economics - II 200 3 Hours 5 General Economics - III 200 3 Hours 6 Indian Economics 200 3 Hours Application Fees : Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI |
