In 1838 Florida Constitution codified the basic system by providing for land allocated for the schools. And after it in 1851 the Florida Legislature voted to establish two seminaries of higher education on opposite sides of the Suwannee River.

 

Florida State University was started in 1851.

 

Florida State University is a space-grant and sea-grant public research university located in the state capital city of Tallahassee, Florida, United States.
