Does the IIT Roorkee campus offer B.Tech Program with Biotechnology Branch? Actually I have completed 10+2 with Bio Stream. I want to do B.Tech, so my school teacher suggested me for IIT Roorkee campus for Biotechnology Branch. Please give me fee structure for this 4 Years Program.

The IIT Roorkee has a Biotechnology department. The Centre of Biosciences was started in 1980. This center is upgraded to a full-fledged academic Department of Biosciences and Biotechnology in 1986.

The department has teaching and research programmes which encompass various basic and applied aspects of modern biotechnology.

The M.Sc.(Biotechnology) course of the Department is being funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. A B.Tech.(Biotechnology) course has been started in 2005.

It is a four year (8 semesters) programme in which the curriculum includes courses from biotechnology and engineering together with relevant laboratory programs, and a research project.

The course covers a wide array of topics right from basic biological sciences like Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, and Structural Biology to application oriented subjects like Bioprocess Engineering, Fermentation Technology, Plant and Animal Biotechnology, Basic Computational Biology and other regular subjects.
