DTU Half Year Report

DTU is obligated to assess whether or not studies are progressing satisfactorily for each PhD student. This control measure is satisfied by the “half-year report”, which must be handed in every six months during the entire period of enrolment.

The Half-year report is an evaluation of the level of academic progress of the PhD project

The half-year report is signed by the head of the PhD school, the principal supervisor and the PhD student.

The first half-year report must be submitted after 4½ months of study.

The report must be submitted to the PhD School (department) who forwards a copy to the Office of PhD and Continuing Education.

The student must be offered the opportunity to rectify the situation within a time limit of three months - but only once.

The student has two weeks deadline to give his/her response.

The first half-year report is due four and a half months from the commencement of the PhD programme.

The half-year report must reach one of the following three conclusions:

1. Progress of study satisfactory
2. Progress of study not entirely satisfactory
3. Progress of study not satisfactory

The half-year report must be signed by the principal supervisor, the PhD student and the head of the PhD school/department.
