The Department of Foreign Languages of Savitribai Phule Pune University was established in 1949.

This Department offers courses in French, German, Russian, Japanese and Spanish at various levels, from elementary to post graduate courses (M.A., M.Phil, Ph.D.)

Batches are conducted in the mornings as well as in the evenings at various centers in the city

The Certificate, Intensive Certificate, Diploma, Intensive Diploma, Advanced Diploma and the Special Diploma courses in all languages are part-time courses held at many centers

The post graduate courses offered in French, German and Russian are full time courses.

2. Intensive Certificate : 4 ½ Months (twice a year)

3. Diploma : 1 Year

4. Intensive Diploma : 4 ½ Months (twice a year)

5. Advanced Diploma : 1 Year

6. Special Diploma in German Translation : 1 Year

7. Special Diploma in Commercial German: 1 Year

Postgraduate courses

M.A. (two years), M. Phil. (one year course work+ two years for dissertation) and Ph.D. (five years: course work and dissertation)

2. Intensive Certificate : 4 ½ Months (twice a year)
