The Directorate of Distance Education of Annamalai University was established in 1979, and now offers more than two hundred different programmes of study under the Regular Stream.

No, it is not approved by PSC. All its programmes of study offered by it have the approval of the Distance Education Council, New Delhi. It has introduced B.Ed. Programme through distance education mode from 2008-09 with the approval of National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi.
