shikha | Re: Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility IISc Bangalore The Sophisticated Instruments Facility (SIF) was established in 1977 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, initially under the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) programme, with Indian Institute of Science, Raman Research Institute, National Aeronautical Laboratory, all in Bangalore and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bombay as the participating institutions, and was called "Bangalore NMR Facility". The Broad objectives of the Centre are: To provide NMR facilities to scientists to carry out dimensions for the purpose of research. To organize short-term courses/workshops on the use and application of various instruments and techniques for research students, teachers and personnel from other laboratories and industries To get and develop capability for preventive maintenance and repairs of Sophisticated instruments and also help other laboratories in this direction if and when possible. To train technicians in maintenance and operation of Sophisticated Instruments To promote projects aimed at the development of new techniques, sophisticated instruments or improvement of existing instruments.
