The requirement of TOEFL or Test of English as a Foreign Language for admission in Under Graduate Program in Otis College of Art and Design is as follows:

English Proficiency Exam
International applicants whose primary/native language is not English should take one of the three tests recognized by Otis College: TOEFL, IELTS, or the Pearson Test of English (SAT/ACT scores not required).

The minimum scores required for BFA admission are a 79 on the TOEFL ibt, 6.5 on the IELTS or 58on the Pearson Test of English.

If attended an accredited high school or college where English is the primary language of instruction, may be waived of this requirement if you submit a transcript documenting completion of non-ESL coursework in English or Literature.

The English proficiency requirement may also be waived for native English speakers who are citizens of any of the following countries and attend schools where English is the primary language of instruction: England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, India, South Africa and Common Wealth Caribbean (Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago).

Applicants with test scores below required minimums for BFA admission considered for the Foundation Pathway program, which offers BFA Foundation curriculum alongside special, rigorous English language courses.

Other Application Requirements

1. Online Application - Submit the online application

2. $60 application fee - The fee is non refundable and can be paid online when submit application.

3. Portfolio - Submit 10–20 pieces of best work submitted online

4. Personal Statement - In at least 500 words, describe background and interest in studying art and design.

5. Transcripts
o Official transcripts are required showing all completed work to date.
o Transfer students are required to submit final high school transcripts (with the graduation date) and official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
o International students are required to submit official translations for transcripts not in English. Submit both the translation and the official transcript. International transfer applicants should submit a course-by-course transcript evaluation from World Education Services

SAT/ACT Test Scores
Applicants need to submit either an SAT or ACT score along with the other application materials. However, these scores are not required. Transfer students do not need to submit standardized test scores.
