| shikha | Re: Age Relaxation for Ex Servicemen in UPSC The age relaxation prescribed for Ex Servicemen in IAS (Indian Administrative Services) Exam conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is as follows: Up to a maximum of 5 years for ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who has rendered at least 5 years Military Service and have been released on completion of assignment otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or on invalidment. Age limits A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years. The upper age limit prescribed above is relaxed: a. Up to a maximum of 5 years if one belongs to a Scheduled Caste (SC) or a Scheduled Tribe (ST). b. Up to a maximum of 3 years for candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates c. Up to a maximum of 5 years if one had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st December, 1989 d. Up to a maximum of 3 years for Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof. e. Up to a maximum of 5 years for ECOs/SSCOs who has completed an initial period of assignment of 5 years Military Service and whose assignment has been extended beyond 5 years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that can apply for civil employment and that is released on 3 months' notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment f. Up to a maximum of 10 years for blind, deaf-mute and orthopedically handicapped persons.
