It is boys hostel and boarders in the hostel are from various streams mainly pursuing their Ph.D, M.Tech, M.Sc, B.Tech. Hostel Brahmaputra is the highest accommodating hostel in the history of IIT Guwahati. Housing nearly thousand students, the hostel to its might is named aptly as Brahmaputra. It is a three floored building with spacious rooms and all other facilities incorporated. The hostel is a centre for various activities. The hostel is always filled with enormously talented students who are always eager for innovation. Constructed in peaceful and playful environment, it imparts enthusiasm and endeavour in the students. The boarders in the hostel cultivate the feeling of oneness standing unite and as fierce as The Brahmaputra River. Facilities- The most amazing facility that IIT Guwahati offers is indivisual rooms for every one of its single student. Brahmaputra Hostel provides single seater accomodation for every student. Internet facility in every room via lan connection, reading room with wifi facility, T.V room for recreational purposes, two canteens, two juice centres, gymnasium, volleyball ground, multipurpose playground, sports room with facilities for playing indoor games like carrom, table tennis, etc. Laundry areas with semi-automatic washing machines on each floor, and other useful modern amenities Reading Room / Hotel Library A library with more than 200 titles from various genres Canteen Juice Centre Sports Rooms Equipments- Sports facilities include two table tennis tables in the sports room along with two carroms. The hostel also houses chess boards for the boarders to flex their minds. Badminton, cricket equipment, football, volleyball and all common sports equipment are available for boarders.
