Re: uconn MBA program requirements

The UConn Full-time MBA Program look for highly-motivated students who have proved endeavours in their career to date with clear future career goals, outstanding academic performance, strong test scores, a positive attitude, and strong values.

It strives to select a class that is diverse professionally and culturally. Each applicant is carefully evaluated on their individual merits. It also looks for quality of work experience, strong communication skills, leadership traits, and potential for success with an MBA degree.

Admission Requirements

The following are basic requirements for admission consideration:

Professional Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional, full-time work experience is required for admission consideration.
Military experience is also considered as professional work experience.
Work experience raises the calibre of learning in the classroom through thoughtful and extensive team projects and discussions of real-world situations and solutions.
A business background is not required as we have students from diverse professional backgrounds ranging from business to the sciences, engineering, non-profits, etc.
Corporate recruiters prefer to see significant pre-MBA work experience when hiring for summer internships and post-MBA positions.

Test Scores
It accepts both the GMAT and GRE exams.
It does not utilize cut-off scores. However, strong test scores are expected. Middle 50% GMAT scores typically are between 600 and 680, and the middle 50% of total GRE scores are between 307 and 315.

Prior Academic Performance
One must hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.

It does not consider 3 year bachelor degrees from India, Canada, or Australia to be equivalent to a US bachelor degree. However, additional graduate level course work after earning a 3 year bachelor degree may be considered for equivalency.

A minimum cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 on an applicants four-year Bachelors degree or the final two-year GPA is expected.

A 3.0 or higher on any Masters level completed coursework or degree is expected. One may still apply if your GPA falls below the required minimum.

Application Reviews and Interviews
Once all required application materials have been received, the completed application will be reviewed by the UConn MBA Admissions Committee.
Interview invitations will be extended to select candidates.
In-person interviews will be scheduled for local candidates, while Skype interviews will be scheduled with long-distance and international candidates.
