Ya sure I will tell you criteria for selection in JEE (Advanced) so that you can go through and have idea.

Here is the criteria
Criterion 1 – Performance in JEE (Main) 2015.
The candidate should be among the top 1,50,000 (all categories included) in JEE exam is:-
50.5% for GEN (from the common rank list), 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. Within each of these four categories, 3% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates. It is to be noted that PwD category includes Dyslexic candidates also.

Criterion 3 – Number of attempts.
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.

Criterion 4 – Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
The candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in all the subjects

Criterion 5 – Earlier admission at IITs/ISM.
The candidate should NOT have taken admission (irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program) OR even accepted admission by paying admission fee at any of the IITs or ISM in the past

Exam Pattern:
The paper pattern of this national level engineering entrance exam is not fixed and changes year by year. However, a few elements in the exam pattern are generally fixed.

There are a total of 2 papers (paper 1 & 2) and candidates have to appear for both.

The question paper consists of three separate sections viz., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

It is available in two languages - English and Hindi.

Candidates have to attempt objective type (multiple choice) and numerical answer type questions that are designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. Some sections carry negative marking also.
