CLAT entrance examination is conducted for admission to 17 of the coveted National Law Schools of India


Eligibility Criteria

For Undergraduate Course LLB


Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST and persons with Disability).

For Post graduation :


he applicant should have cleared the LLB or 5 year integrated LLB degree or its equivalent degree scoring minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) from a recognized university as per prescribed by the participating university.


There is no age bar for appearing in CLAT


Examination Pattern :


For Undergraduate

Total Marks: 200
Number of Questions: 200
Duration: 2 hours
Marking: There is system of negative marking and for every incorrect answer 1/4th marks will be deducted.



CLAT Structure


English (including comprehension) 40 marks

Elementary Mathematics 20 marks

General Knowledge/Current Affairs 50 marks

Logical Reasoning 40 marks

Legal Reasoning 50 marks


For Post graduation Course :


There will be 150 MCQ type questions with 2 hours duration and total marks containing 150. Each correct answer contains 1 marks and there will be 25% penalty for each wrong answer. The question paper will consists questions based on following areas-

Jurisprudence (50 questions)
Constitutional Law (50 questions)
Other Law Subjects (50 questions)
