| shikha | Re: PGIMER Chandigarh Convocation The 34th Convocation Ceremony of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Institute and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh was held on 10 September 2015. The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi urged the graduating students to keep the poor of the nation in mind, at every step of their career. He reminded the graduating students that this Convocation Ceremony should not mark the end of their education He said it is an occasion when they emerge from the world of books to the real world. The Prime Minister spoke of the global trend towards holistic healthcare. The honours include the Kataria Memorial Gold Medal to Dr Agarwal Aniruddha Kishandutt (for the year 2013) and Khaire Niranjan Shiwaji (2014) The Major General Amir Chand Gold Medal to Dr Suresh Kumar in the MD/MS/DM/MCh category and Dr Ashok Kumar Yadav in PhD category (2012), Dr Ramesh Kumar R in the MD/MS/DM/MCh category and Dr Kiran Kumar Thumburu in the PhD category (2013) the VK Saini Gold Medal in the field of Cardiovascular Diseases to Dr Indranil Biswas (2013); the Prof Subhash Kumari Gupta Memorial Gold Medal to Dr Balan Louis G (2013); and the Aikat Memorial Gold Medal to Pratibha Chauhan (2013) As many as 825 students awarded degrees during the convocation. During the convocation, 49 students awarded with PhD. Besides, 46 silver medals and 41 bronze medals awarded to students from various specialties.
