Re: JEE Main Rules

The rules belonging to certain categories for candidates admitted to reserve seats under JEE Main Exam Rules Government of India are as follows:

Reservation of Seats

As per Government of India rules candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories are:

I. Other Backward Classes (OBC) if they belong to Non Creamy Layer (NCL)
II. Scheduled Castes (SC)
III. Scheduled Tribes (ST)
IV. Persons with Disability (PwD)with 40% or more disability

Benefit of reservation for admission to NITs/IIITs and CFTIs is given only to those classes/castes/tribes which are in the respective central list published by the Govt of India.

For admission to State Engineering colleges who have opted for admission through JEE (Main), the reservation rules of that state shall apply.

The letter/e-mails regarding reservation criteria will not be entertained by JEE (Main) secretariat/ CBSE

Seat Allocation Process and Admission Procedure

One is offered admission based on the choices and All India Ranks of JEE (Main)- through a Seat Allocation Process. One is able to make the choices online for branches/programmes and institutes at appropriate time.

The verification of documents would be done at the time of Seat Allocation Process/ admission. In cases where the rank is revised due to rechecking/ revaluation/re-totaling of board marks, the revised board mark sheet will also be verified at the time of seat allocation.

The purpose is to verify different records regarding identification, age, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category and disability (if any) of one. On failing to produce any of the authentic documents, one is not considered for admission.

SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates need to produce original certificate issued by the competent authority at the time of Seat Allocation Process and at the time of admission, failing which is not considered for admission
