Re: CSIO Format

CSIO is Canada’s industry association of property and casualty insurers, brokers and software providers.

EDI Standards :

EDI was first developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Their official definition of EDI is “the computer-to-computer interchange of strictly formatted messages that represent documents.”

The EDI standards are not as readable as XML, but they’re easily processed by computers. This allows large volumes of broker-insurer transactions to get processed quickly with minimal errors and low costs.

EDI covers Personal Lines

The EDI standards are particularly well established in the Personal Lines area of insurance business, i.e. Automobile and Habitational. EDI standards do not cover Commercial Lines.
