shikha | Re: Kullu ITBP Camp Indo-Tibetan Border Police was conceived on October 24, 1962. It was initially raised under the CRPF Act, however in 1992, the parliament enacted the ITBPF Act and rules there under were framed in 1994. It is a specialized mountain Force and most of the officers & men are professionally trained mountaineers and skiers. Being the first responder for natural disaster in the Himalayas, it has been carrying out numerous rescue and relief operations. Its functions are vigil on the Northern borders, detection and prevention of border violations, and promotion of the sense of security among the local populace; check illegal immigration , trans-border smuggling and crimes; security to sensitive installations, banks and protected persons and restore and preserve order in any area in the event of disturbance. Basic Training Center The Basic Training Centre of ITB Police was established at Karera, Shivpuri (MP) in 1962. It was shifted to Distt. Kullu (HP) in 1977, and to its present location, Bhanu, in District Panchkula (Haryana) in June 1991. (i) Educational Facilities Basic Training Centre chisels and shapes new applicants at the levels of Constables and Head Constables and turns them into a combat soldier capable of performing border management tasks as well multidimensional tasks like Counter Insurgency Operations and Internal Security. (ii) Educational Facilities The Training Centre has specialized in the training of 'Instructors' in Drill, Weapons, PT and Judo and therefore also attracts trainees from State and Central Police Forces. It also conducts in-service training of section level commanders, besides having a separate wing for training of dogs and horses and its handlers and riders. |
