National Talent Search Scheme started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme is to identify talented students and nurture them.

This year NCERT will conduct the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in coordination with states for students studying in Class X.

NTSE Examination Pattern

The pattern of written examination for Class X will be as follows:


Stage I & II : Examination at the State/UT level will comprise three papers i.e

Papers Test No of questions marks Duration
Paper-I Mental Ability Test (MAT) 50 50 45 minutes
Paper-II Language test (LT)
English/Hindi 50 50 45 minutes
Paper-III Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) 100 100 90 minutes

At Stage-II (National Level) Exam, there will be negative marking in each paper. For each wrong answer 1/3rd marks will be deducted. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

Important dates:

1. Application form availability Contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring the application form
2. Application deadline Notified by the respective state (varies from state to state)
3. NTSE Stage 1 2018 admit card To Be Announced
4. NTSE Stage 1 2018 exam date 4th November 2017- Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Andaman and Nicobar Island
5th November 2017- All other states and union territories

5. Date of NTSE Stage 2 2018 exam 13th May 2018

I am X class student and planning to apply for the National Talent Search Scheme Examination (NTSE) National Level. Will you tell basic details along with NTSE National Level examination pattern so that I can prepare well for exams also provide important dates related to exam?
