Founded in 1927, UH is the third-largest university in Texas with nearly 43,000 students. University Of Houston AAU Details: In this document compares the University of Houston metrics to those used by the Association of American Universities (AAU). It shows UHs metrics are close to those of several current members of the AAU. If the strong surges by UH continue for a few years (they have through 2014), UH will continue passing metrics of some members. The AAU divides indicators used in assessments of current and potential new members into two phases. Phase I indicators are used as the primary indicators. Phase II indicators provide additional important calibrations. All indicators are tabulated as both actual and normalized per faculty where feasible.
