The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission UPSC for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Revenue Service (IRS).

The notification of the exam was released on 27 April, 2016

The Civil Services exam 2016 was conducted on 7 August, 2016

Date of Notification: 27 April, 2016
Last Date to Apply: 27 May, 2016
Exam Date: 7 August, 2016
Civil Services Mains: 3 December, 2016

Civil Services Exam eligibility-

Degree from a Central, State or Deemed university

Degree received through correspondence or distance education

Degree from an open university

Qualification recognized by the Government of India as being equivalent to one of the above

Candidates who have passed the final exam of the MBBS degree but have not yet completed an internship

Candidates who have passed the final exam of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), ICSI and ICWAI

Degree from a private university

Degree from any foreign university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities

Age-

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on August 1 of the year of examination.

For other backwards castes (OBC) the upper age limit is 35, and for scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) the limit is 37 years.
