It was founded in September 2007

IIST Admission will be Done on the Basis of JEE Advance for UG courses and GATE/ UGC NET/JEST for admission to PG courses

Citizenship

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for admission in IIST.

Candidates Belonging to General category (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories must have been born on or after October 1, 1991.

Eligibility Criteria

The Candidates of GEN/OBC should have an aggregate of at least 70% in Physics, chemistry and mathematics in the qualifying examination.

The reserved category candidates should have the minimum percentage of 60% in PCM subjects of the qualifying examination.

Reservation of Seats ;

Scheduled Castes (SC) : 15%
Scheduled Tribes (ST) : 7.5%
Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) : 27%
Persons with Disabilities (PD) : 3% (Horizontal Reservation)

Application Fee

Application fee for male candidates (GEN/OBC) – Rs. 600/-.
Application fee for female candidates (GEN/OBC) – Rs. 300/-.
Application fee for all SC/ST/PD candidates – Rs. 300/-.
