You have to take admission in same branch of engineering in that you have completed your diploma course . relevant stream are acceptable but totally opposite are not valid B tech lateral entry admission : You have to pass diploma course in respective stream with good marks from a well recognized institution. For admission you have to pass an entrance examination organized by college administration.
