The MBBS course offered by Christian Medical College is of four and a half years duration and is followed by one year of compulsory rotating residential internship. The course begins with a short foundation course exposing students to basic principles of Communication, Ethics and Problem Based Learning. The course comprises of three stages. The 1st stage of 12 months duration consists of the basic sciences of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. The 2nd stage is of 18 months duration and comprises Clinical and Para-clinical subjects - Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine. The 3rd stage is of 24 months duration and covers Ophthalmology, Oto-rhinolaryngology, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. A block posting in Community Health is an integral part of each stage. Posting in mission hospitals and secondary care centres is a unique feature of medical education. The internship lasting for 12 months comprises of postings in Community Health, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Child Health, Orthopaedics, Casualty and short electives in various specialities. All these are as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India MBBS Fee There is nothing mentioned about the course fee on the official website of the University. Here, I am providing the contact detail of the University where you can call and find it out: Contact Detail: Christian Medical College Ida Scudder Road, Vellore - 632004 Tamil Nadu, India 0416-2281000, 3070000 Eligibility for Admission to the MBBS Course One should have passed the qualifying exam equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam after a period of 12 years of study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English. One must have 60% marks at +2 level in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology taken together) and have an aggregate of 140/200 in these subjects, both at qualifying and competitive exams and should have passed in English. 60% in each and 130/200 aggregate for BC, 55% in each and 120/200 aggregate for MBC, and 40% in each and 80/200 aggregate for SC/ST candidates. One must have passed in all subjects of the qualifying exam of the Higher Secondary Certificate Exam (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other equivalent exam in one and the same attempt in the subjects. One should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or should complete the said age on or before 31st December of the said year. |
