The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission UPSC for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) among others

CSE Exam Eligibility Criteria

Graduation in any stream from any university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC)

Those who have appeared in the qualifying exam and are waiting for their results are also eligible to apply.

CSE Exam Numbers of attempts

The number of times a candidate may attempt the exam is limited as follows:

General category candidates = 6.
OBC category candidates = 9.
SC/ST candidates = unlimited attempts till 37 years of age.

Date of Notification: 22 February, 2017

Last Date to Apply: 17 March, 2017

Exam Date: 18 June, 2017

Civil Services Mains: 28 October, 2017

Pre exam-

The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions)

Exam carry maximum of 400 marks.
